Paul Wayne Pacer, 78 of Columbus passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He was born March 22, 1947 in Richmond, VA to Ben and Dorothy Padgett Pacer.
Paul was the Owner of Cavalier Tours for the past 30 years. He was proud of his service in the Air Force and had stories of being stationed in Thule, Greenland. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW,
Amvets and the Moose. Paul was a multi-sport athlete and coach. Some of his happiest days were coaching baseball and softball, particularly in his daughter's teams. He was an avid auto racing fan, sponsoring cars at the Obetz speedway for years. He loved Clipper games, motorhoming, Texas Hold'em games, cruising, fishing, especially with his grandsons, evenings on the back porch and spending time with family and friends. He loved being with people and hosting Red, White and Boom Parties, sharing Clipper tickets and auto racing events.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Susan Montgomery; daughter Kimberly Sue Pacer Mathewes, grandsons Tanner Haig and Cole Benjamin of Mt Pleasant, SC; Estranged son Kenneth Wayne Pacer (Beth) and Grandchildren Brandon, Isabella, and Gabriel of Lynn Haven, FL; Step Daughter Jamey Zurcher (Mike Miller) and granddaughters Kendall and Kora Miller, Littleton, CO; Sister Sue Pacer Dunn O'Connor (Dennis) of Mechanicsville, VA; Brother John Edgar Pacer (Patti) of Midlothian, VA; Nephew Sam Dunn (Angela), great nephew Jake Dunn of Bumpass VA; Nieces Jamie Pacer Kee (Tyler) and great nephew Bennett of Midlothian, VA and Kelsey Pacer (Matt Caratachea) of Richmond,VA.
There will be visitation and memorial service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville and a celebration honoring his life at 2 p.m. at the Moose Lodge 1427, 1970 Schrock Road, Westerville.
