Paul Eugene Ryan, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on August 22, 2025 at his home in New Vernon, New York surrounded by family. He was 86 years young.
Paul was the third child born to Mary Ellen (Mamie) and William Patrick Ryan in Marine Park Brooklyn, New York. Paul honorably served in the United States Marine Corps before marrying his " first mate" Louise (nee Falco) in 1960. Together, they built a life with their children, Paul,Jr. (Colleen), Teresa Ann Marie and Christopher (Tracy) starting in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn then to Suffolk County, Long Island and continuing the past 53 years in Orange County, New York. He was a very proud grandpa to Caitlin, Amy (Chris), Allison (Matt) Patrick and Sean and blessed to be great grandfather to Evelyn and Milo.
Paul was a big hearted brother in law and a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews always willing to share a funny story, enjoying their company or lend a helping hand. After retiring from the NYPD, Paul became a small business owner operating a commercial cleaning service for 28 years.
His family was Paul's utmost priority but he had an unwavering passion for deep sea fishing. He would travel near and far for a good catch. He made wonderful friends along that journey. They became his second family along with the fraternity of law enforcement members of the Hudson Valley 10-13, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 957 and the Orange County Shields.
Paul was a good man, great Dad and husband, a loyal friend and a strong patriot. He truly was "one of a kind" and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 28, 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Applebees- McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NewYork.
Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetary (Pinelawn Memorial Park) Farmingdale, New York 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.ORG) or Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County (hospiceoforange.com).
