Paul David Venincasa
November 18, 1962 – September 20, 2025
Paul David Venincasa, 62, of
Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, after a courageous 17-month battle with Stage 4 kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and three children as he passed from this life to be with our Lord and Savior.
Born on November 18, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, to Joseph Venincasa and Jeannie Whitaker, Paul grew up with a passion for life, sports, and adventure. He spent his early years in San Antonio, attending Clark High School before moving to Choctaw, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Choctaw High School in 1981. His childhood was filled with football, baseball (as a catcher), motocross racing, lake and river trips, and a deep love for building cars-especially his favorites, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge and the 1970 Buick GS.
Paul attended Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1985. During his time at OSU, he was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and worked serving meals to OSU athletes-a job that inspired his career in food distribution sales. His early career led him to Houston, Texas, where he joined Sysco Corporation. It was there that he met his future wife, Emily Janes. The two married on February 28, 1996, beginning a beautiful union that spanned nearly 30 years.
Paul and Emily bought their first home in Houston, enjoying their early years together traveling and growing their careers. In March 1998, they welcomed their first child, Alec. Later that year, in October 1998, the family moved to Austin, where Paul began a career in audiovisual sales at CCS Presentation Systems-a role he proudly held for more than 27 years. Their family grew with the birth of Mitchell in August 2000 and Elena in January 2003.
A devoted husband and father, Paul was actively involved in his children's lives and passions-from football and lacrosse to cheerleading and band. He taught his sons how to ride dirt bikes and shoot, and he never missed an opportunity to be out on Lake Travis with family and friends. Paul remained a loyal OSU Cowboy fan throughout his life, regularly attending games and alumni events with pride.
Paul's life was one of purpose, generosity, and steadfast love. He built a home filled with laughter, strength, and unforgettable memories. He loved cooking his Italian Nana's recipes and entertaining. Even in the face of illness, Paul met each day with resilience, continuing to provide for and uplift those he loved most.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Katherine Venincasa and Bill and Eva Jean Rinkle; his father, Joseph Frank Venincasa; his stepfather, Dr. Charles Grady Plyler; and his father-in-law, Dr. Olen Gaynor Janes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily Janes Venincasa of Cedar Park, TX; his children, Alec Ryan Venincasa of
Austin, TX, Mitchell Evan Venincasa of Dallas, TX, and Elena Kate Venincasa of
Austin, TX; his mother, Melba Jean Whitaker (Jesse); his sister, Lisa Venincasa Griffin (JB); and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Special thanks go to his stepbrother, Boyd Scroggins (Liz) of Hideaway, TX, who has been his best friend since age 12 and a tremendous help during these difficult times, and to Victor and Paula Rinkle for their ongoing support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Volente Beach Resort & Waterpark, where memories will be shared, laughter will continue, and Paul's incredible life will be honored in the spirit he would have wanted-surrounded by joy, love, and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Paul's memory to one of the following charities:
Fisher House Foundation, which provides lodging for military and veteran families during medical crises: https://connect.fisherhouse.org/general-donations/donate
Operation First Response, which offers financial assistance and support services to wounded veterans and their families: https://www.operationfirstresponse.org/donate/
Paul will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, humor, and the unwavering love he gave to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the many lives he touched.
