Pauline Marie (Ells) Mahoney, 83, of Nahant, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Salem Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 16, 1942, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Ingvaldsen) Ells.
Pauline was born and raised, alongside her nine siblings, in Chelsea, and graduated from Chelsea High School with the Class of 1960. In her younger years, she enjoyed performing in local community variety shows, a favorite pastime that reflected her love of music and fun. She met her future husband, Frank, through her older brother Andy. Frank left Chelsea to serve four years in the U.S. Navy, but she waited for him, and they were married soon after he returned.
In 1970, Pauline and Frank moved to Chelmsford, where they raised their two sons. She worked for many years at the 3M Company in Chelmsford, and she was known for her dedication, warmth, and strong work ethic.
Deeply committed to her community, Pauline volunteered throughout the years in the Chelmsford public schools and youth sports programs. She served as a Cub Scout den leader, a CCD teacher at St. Mary's Church, and a volunteer with the Lowell chapter of Special Olympics. Her kindness and willingness to help others touched many lives.
Family was at the center of Pauline's life. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, Roman, above all else. Her home was always filled with laughter and love.
Pauline will be dearly missed and is survived by her beloved husband, Francis D. Mahoney; her loving sons, Dennis F. Mahoney and his wife, Wendy P. Mahoney, and Joseph P. Mahoney and his wife, Shelly K. Mahoney; her cherished grandchildren, Michael F. Mahoney and his wife, Brielle, Caley A. Mahoney and her fiancé, Ali, Shannon E. Mahoney, Mark G. Mahoney, and Dana A. Mahoney; her great-grandson, Roman D. Mahoney; and her sister, Marie Ells.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street (Rt. 1A), Lynn. A service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 5:30 PM. There will also be a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Relay Yard, Nahant, MA, at 6:30 PM.
Pauline will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
