Chong Kong Sun "Penny K" Stucin, 83, of Uhrichsville, passed away after a period of declining health in the care of Ohio's Hospice LifeCare on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Schoenbrunn in New Philadelphia, where she had received excellent care from the many nurses and aides with whom she had grown close. She was born September 5, 1940 in Korea where she resided until 1971.
In January of 1970, Penny met Larry Dean Stucin while he was serving in Korea with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. They started dating and the photo shown above was taken April 4, 1970. They were married in 1971, and Penny moved with her husband to Uhrichsville where they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his passing on August 4, 2006.
Penny was a nurses' aide at the former Dove Nursing Home for a number of years, and she had also worked in cleaning, as well as Goodwill Industries for several years. She was a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles Aerie #2264 Auxiliary and Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943 Auxiliary, and she was a former member of the Uhrichsville Women of the Moose. She treasured the time that she spent tending to her flower gardens and feeding the birds. Although she leaves behind no family, she will be missed by her dear friend, Chone Burdette, who was there as Penny's indispensable helper for many years.
In keeping with Penny's wishes, she will be interred beside her late husband in Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston without a public visitation or service. Those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to do a kind deed – remembering how Penny was always so very kind – rather than to send flowers or donations.
