Pepper Jackson Obituary

Visit the Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home - New Orleans website to view the full obituary.
Pepper Jackson, devoted wife of Rader Jackson, was born on July 21, 1937. She passed peacefully into eternal life on February 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, and is survived by her faithful husband of 67 years, Rader Jackson, their three children, Craig Jackson (Alicia), Cris Jackson (Ann Marie), Caffery Jackson (Yvette), her six grandchildren Shelby, Harold, Charles, Grace, Rader and Christian and her great-grandchild Kori. She is also survived by her loving sister, Juanita Bordelon, her niece Denise Bordelon Calegari and nephews Irion Bordelon, Jr., Kirk Bertus and Scott Bertus. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved parents, Esther Bordelon and Nedley Bordelon, and her siblings, Irion Bordelon and Marie Bertus (Don).

Born in a small humble French speaking community near Marksville, Louisiana, her family moved to Metairie where she graduated from Metairie High School and where she met Rader, her lifelong love whom she married in 1959.

She dedicated her life to her family, providing love, care and enriching experiences every day. She was a master at creating a warm and loving environment in their Old Metairie home and in vacation homes in Mississippi and Baton Rouge. She was a wonderful cook who perfected many memorable dishes that her family enjoyed over many years. She led the entire family on many enjoyable vacations, notably their many trips to New York City beginning with the World's Fair and many subsequent Thanksgivings. Her travels included France, England, Jerusalem, Italy and Disney World.

Pepper was a long-lasting member of a very special group of friends who met regularly to have lunch, needlepoint and travel together.

Pepper was an active devout Catholic who tirelessly supported St. Michael's Special School where she chaired the Blue Rose Ball, and Jesuit High School where her children attended and she chaired an annual Bazaar.

Pepper lived a full and blessed life, even through her lengthy illness, during which time she was supported with dedication by Rader, her children and her loving caregivers. With the Lord's grace, Pepper is now free and in His loving and holy presence.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Metairie Road, Wednesday, February 11, with visitation commencing at 10:00 a.m., followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. Burial and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Pepper would appreciate donations to St. Michael's Special School in New Orleans.
