Pete Charles Ruiz Jr., aged 69, took his last ride into the sunset on February 17, 2025, in his hometown of Austin, where he had been a lifelong resident since his birth on March 9, 1955. Known for his handy skills and quick wit, Pete's legacy is one of love and dedication to his family and friends.
After graduating from Johnston High School in 1973, Pete embarked on a career that showcased his attention to detail. He was known for his strong work ethic, which was evident throughout his career. Before retiring he served as a Lead Engineer at the Marriott South for 8 years, where his commitment to excellence earned him the Employee of the Month award twice. He was well-respected for his ability to train new employees, ensuring that the high standards he set were passed on to the next generation of workers. Prior to his tenure at the Marriott, Pete had a career as a Printing Press Operator at Trade Printing for 44 years.
Pete harbored a lifelong passion for motorcycles, it began as a young adult and lasted until his final days. Nothing brought him more joy than riding his Harley Davidson throughout the Texas roads. A true fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Pete never missed a game, and you could often find him in his recliner cheering on his favorite football team. His love for Western movies and country music also spoke volumes about his classic taste and the simple pleasures he cherished.
Fishing was a pastime that Pete inherited from his father and proudly passed down to his two sons, Marshall and Payton. The trio along with his wife and in-laws shared countless trips to the Texas coast, forging bonds and creating memories that would last a lifetime. At home, Pete was the master of barbecues, a tradition he relished when surrounded by his family, especially during visits from his grandchildren. His love for animals was another facet of his compassionate personality, one that resonated with all who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife, Kim Ruiz, his daughter, Nikki Ruiz Hoelter, and sons, Marshall and Payton Ruiz. Pete's joy will be remembered through his four grandchildren, Nicholas Ruiz Sr., Tristen and Laura Hoelter, and Ella Ruiz, and his two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ruiz Jr. and Jeremiah Ruiz. He leaves behind his sisters Gloria Valdez and Gina Arocha, along with nephews and a niece, and many cousins.
Pete Charles Ruiz Jr.'s life was filled with meaningful relationships, and heartfelt contributions to the lives of those around him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his memory will endure in the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave so freely. Pete's journey on earth has come to an end, but his spirit remains imprinted on our lives, guiding us with the same strength he provided in life.
