With deep love and fond remembrance, we announce the passing of our Beloved Peter Mussenden,
a loving husband, proud father, decorated veteran, successful entrepreneur, and beloved patriarch. Born
on February 17, 1945, in George Town, Guyana, to Stanley and Sylvia Mussenden. Peter was a spirited young man who once rode his father's motorcycle through the streets of his homeland, foreshadowing a
lifetime of bold decisions and far-reaching journeys.
Peter moved to London as a young man, where he joined the British military and rose
through the ranks to become an officer. His service was recognized at the highest level
when he was awarded a medal by Her Majesty the Queen of England-an honor he held
with great pride.
He married Verdine " Alex" Benn, and together they had three children: Mark, Miles, and Michelle.
The family later immigrated to the United States, where Peter pursued higher education
at Pace University in New York. Later, through his union with Pearl Dey, Peter welcomed a daughter, Sacha,
and continued to build a remarkable life both personally and professionally.
Peter spent over two decades at Chase Manhattan Bank, climbing the corporate ladder
to become Vice President of the Western Hemisphere. Never one to shy away from new ventures, he later
transitioned into entrepreneurship, becoming the only Black McDonald's owner-operator
in Long Island at the time. He successfully managed four restaurants, earning the
respect of peers and his community alike.
In 2006, Peter married Simone, marking the beginning of eighteen wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Their union was blessed with a son, Ryan, who brought even more joy into their lives. Together, they cherished traveling, spent meaningful time boating, and truly enjoyed each other's company, building a life rich in memories and shared happiness.
A lover of the open water, Peter found peace and joy in boating.
Upon retirement, he moved with his family to Florida, embracing a more relaxed pace while still making time to travel back to England and Guyana to visit cherished family.
Peter had a gift for giving sound, thoughtful advice and was often found offering comfort
to ill friends and relatives in hospitals. He was always the steady hand and always the calm voice of
reason.
He is survived by his Wife: Simone, five children: Mark, Miles, Michelle, Sacha, and Ryan, Sisters: Gloria and Rita, Grandchildren: Tiffany, Chantelle, Sheldon, Crystal, Isaiah, Mathew, Moriah, Naomi,
Josiah, Joshua, Justin, Naomi, and Ethan; and Great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Kyson, Kali,
Ivy, and Nile. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loved ones.
Peter Mussenden lived a full life marked by courage, discipline, generosity, and love. He
will always be remembered for his strength, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to
living his life to the fullest.
Final Arrangements have been Entrusted to the care of Thorne's Mortuary Inc.
