Phil S. "Rusty" Barber, V., 78, husband of Mary Rice Barber, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born in Lebanon, KY to the late Philetus S. Barber, IV. and Mary Jane Kelly Barber on April 9, 1944. He was a lifelong entrepreneur and active in public service. In addition to serving as President and CEO of Barber Cabinet Company, he founded Swift Cabinet Company and Celebrate You, served as mayor of Douglass Hills, and authored a book, Courage to be You. On top of his many accomplishments, he was also a devoted family man who celebrated his children's successes, sympathized with their struggles and was always available to offer guidance and wisdom. He was a car enthusiast, loved music, especially Elvis, and was always willing to help others.
In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, He is survived by his children Karen Barber Graff, Louisville, Kim Barber (Chris) Bryant, Lexington, Kris Barber (Tim) Mattingly, Elizabethtown, Phil S. Barber, VI. (Julie), Bardstown, Paul (Jodi) Barber, Louisville, Peyton Barber, Louisville, and Pierce Barber, Louisville; his grandchildren Tyler (Carleigh) and Elizabeth Mattingly, Brian and Matt Duffy, Will Graff, Katelyn (Max) Talmage, Philip and Kevin Barber, Hannah, Luke, and Collin Barber; his step grandchildren Emma and Ella Bryant and Hudson Livers; his great grandchildren Mac and Hallie Mattingly, as well as 8 siblings and his late brother, Joe Barber.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held from 11:30am until 1:30pm at Ratterman Brother's, East Louisville, 12900 Shelbyville Rd. on Friday November 25, 2022. Memorial contribution may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
