Philip McWilliam Davies died on April 30, 2024. He resided at 212 Ambleside Village Lane, Davidson NC. Born in Edinburgh Scotland on October 17, 1948, he was the son of a lovely war bride Suzanne Failly and a Scottish soldier Angus Davies. Having moved to the United States at an early age, he was educated at the United Nations International School in New York City and obtained his bachelors degree in economics at New York University. He completed his service in the Army National Guard and was particularly honored to have obtained his United States citizenship there. He is survived by his wife Maria Shopay Kolatis and his cherished son Christopher Ryan and had welcomed sons Michael Edward Kolatis and Jacob Thomas Kolatis and daughter Jennie Maria Kolatis into the family. He truly loved his grandchildren Costner Belle Kolatis, Parker Mae Kolatis, Rose Maria Davies, Emily Renee Davies, Olivia Grace Davies and Charlotte Elizabeth Davies. He is also survived by a brother Michael and a sister Carolyn Pearson. He worked in sales for many years in the United States, Japan, Europe and Australia. He was also an entrepreneur having presented his products on QVC. His most interesting work was starting again in sales with Schering Plough and then eventually Merck. Loving travel, he and his wife enjoyed many adventures visiting 114 countries and walking on all seven continents. He particularly enjoyed spending time in the Galapagos, visiting the pyramids and Nile in Egypt, hiking in Antarctica and being on safari in Africa. A mass commemorating his faith will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC on Tuesday May 21 followed by a celebration of life at Sabi Asian Bistro, 130 Harbour Place Drive, Davidson NC. He will be greatly missed. Eternal Memory.

My family bought Phil's vacation home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It was obviously very well taken care of, and all the neighbors remember them well. But the most important way he affected my and my family's life is that after we had bought the home, he stayed in touch. As anyone who buys a home knows, there are countless mysteries and questions that you wish you could ask someone about. Well I could, because Phil gave me his personal number and he answered EVERYTHING. He sent documents, suggested solutions, anything your friend or family member might do for you, he did. Since then I have sold a different house, and I try to be like Phil for that family. Thank you Phil. Phil was also an amazing photographer. He took beautiful, vibrant, emotion-inspiring pictures during his many travels, and we still have some of those on the walls of our home in Florida. One of my greatest hopes is to move to the house we bought from you when our daughter graduates high school. I will miss you.
