Philip Bergeron Gibbons

Philip Bergeron Gibbons, a cherished member of the community and a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee, at the age of 79. Born on February 6, 1946, in Wilton, New Hampshire, Philip epitomized hard work and dedication throughout his life.

Known for his career as a longtime general contractor specializing in restaurant construction, he left an indelible mark in the industry. Philip was not only recognized for his professional achievements but also for his unwavering commitment to his family. He was a proud father who always ensured that his children felt loved and supported. One memorable Christmas, he worked extra hours to surprise his daughter, Darci, with her first horse, while also gifting his son, Kelly, a motorcycle. These heartfelt gestures exemplified his dedication to fostering joy and a sense of adventure in the lives of his children.

Philip's commitment to service extended beyond his family. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country with honor, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service included a tour in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action, earning him the Purple Heart and several other military awards. As an Army Ranger serving with the 101st Airborne Division, he carried with him the values of bravery and resilience, characteristics that resonated in all aspects of his life.

His legacy is carried on by his two beloved children, Darci Gibbons and Kelly Leaird (Beth), and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Leaird. Philip delighted in the many accomplishments of his family, including Darci's successful operation of a farm dedicated to mini horses and rescue animals, as well as Kelly's thriving dental practice. He took immense pride in supporting his children and guiding them toward their successes, a testament to his role as a devoted father.

Philip is also survived by his nephew, Stedman Truxal; many extended family members in New Hampshire and family friend, Melissa Brock, all of whom will deeply miss his presence and the joy he brought into their lives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Trudy Gibbons, and his parents, William and Emilienne Gibbons. Philip's remarkable spirit, work ethic, and dedication to both his family and the nation will be fondly remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and sacrifice, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire for generations to come.
