Philip Colby Noll passed into the presence of the Lord on April 8th, 2022, at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Noll (nee Moyer) for 61 years. He was the dedicated father of Douglas (Linda), and Gregg (Deirdre). Phil was the dearly beloved Granddad of 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, David (Jen), Jonathan (Amy), Steven (Sarah), Aaron (Lauren), and Abigail Allen (Graham). He was great grandfather to Caleb, Leah, Violet, Peter Allen, Joshua and Louisa.
Phil was born in Joliet, Illinois, and became a Marine Corps Corporal after high school, serving for 2 years. He then attended Purdue University where he received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He received his master's degree from Drexel Institute of Technology (Drexel University) and worked for RCA Corporation in Gibbsboro, NJ, as an electrical engineer. He finished his career working with General Electric (GE), developing television broadcast antenna electronics, and retired in 1992. He received a U.S. patent for a specific electronic component in 1990. In 1958, Phil met Elaine Moyer while participating in the singles fellowship group at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. They were married in 1960 and raised their family in Pennsauken, NJ, where they lived for 36 years. They moved to Mt. Laurel, NJ in 1996.
Phil had a long-time passion for choral music. He participated in the Purdue University Glee Club, local community barbershop quartets, the Melodeers, the Singing Angels, Haddonfield Master Chorale and Haddonfield United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, where he also served as choir librarian. He also had an interest in aviation, receiving his private pilot license and enjoying flying adventures with his family. Phil loved traveling with Elaine to many destinations, both domestic and abroad. He was a skilled woodworker and handyman, sharing his expertise with his sons on many of their house projects. He cherished time with his grandkids and was the best storyteller and punster.
Phil was a man of character and integrity. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and raised his family in the truths of the Christian faith by both word and example. He will be missed, but we are comforted knowing he is at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be sent to Samaritan's Purse (samaritanspurse.org).
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Monday May 16, 2022, from 10am-11am, followed by the Memorial Service at 11am at the Fellowship Community Church, 1520 Hainesport Rd, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054. Reception at the church will follow immediately after the service. Interment will be private.
