Philip Overmyer, 71, of Carrollton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025. Born in Hartford City, Indiana, on August 3, 1953, Philip was the beloved son of the late Ralph Junior Overmyer and Wilma June Ruble Hill.
A proud United States Marine, Philip served his country with honor and continued a lifetime of service in his civilian life. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 9 and worked for many years in the automotive manufacturing industry before retiring.
Philip lived a life of action, compassion, and service. He proudly served his community as a police officer for the Carroll County Police Department, a former park ranger, and a valued member of the search and rescue team. He was also a true pioneer, known as the first paramedic volunteer in the state of Kentucky — a testament to his courage and commitment to helping others.
In his free time, Philip enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and hunting — hobbies that reflected his adventurous and independent spirit.
He is survived by his loving son, Philip Michael Overmyer Jr., and his devoted siblings: Jean Arlene Proctor, Anna Irene Cunningham, and Russell Botts Hill. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with pride.
Philip is reunited in eternal peace with his brother, Charles Overmyer, his brother-in-law, Pete Proctor, and his late wife, Marshan Wood Overmyer.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. John's Men's Day Shelter, a cause close to Philip’s heart.
Philip Overmyer will be remembered as a Marine, protector, pioneer, and man of integrity, whose legacy of service and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
