Bernice Murphy, 66, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. She was born on March 5, 1959, in Peewee Valley, Kentucky, to the late Willie and Ethel Crabtree.
Bernice was a loving and generous soul whose kindness touched everyone she met. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Murphy, and her sister Jenny Ballard.
She is survived by her devoted siblings, Becky Wells and Ashley Diehl, as well as her cherished nieces and nephews: Gary Crabtree (Stacey), Kimberly Wells (Louis), Christopher Wells, Christian Diehl, Tiffany Ballard, Sarah Ballard, Lisa Ballard, and Raygen Drake. She is also survived by her brother in law Charlie Ballard.
Bernice was blessed with many great-nieces and great-nephews, including Brandon Latin, Camden Latin, Brooklyn Hollingsworth, Porter Curtsinger, Conner Curtsinger, Billy Curtsinger, Michael Curtsinger, Kaydence Owens, Brandi Walker, Michelle Walker, Joey McNatt, Jada McNatt, Hope Ballard, Ryan Griffin, Mirissa Griffin, and David Thomas — all of whom she loved dearly.
She also shared a lifelong friendship with Teddy and Marie Rison, who were like family to her.
In her free time, Bernice loved spending time with her family, going yard selling, and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, where she created countless happy memories.
Visitation will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at the same location.
Bernice will be remembered as a kindhearted, fun-loving, and devoted woman whose laughter and warmth brightened every room she entered. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
