Philip Raskin

Philip Raskin, a brilliant mind, a gifted artist, and a man whose heart resonated with profound positivity, passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer on June 9, 2025, just one day shy of his 68th birthday. Philip is survived by his devoted wife, Georgeann; his loving daughter, Kathryn Raskin and her husband Andrew Hunter; his brother, Todd Raskin and his wife Cynthia Raskin; his cherished nieces, Laura (Raskin) Byrne and Lindsay Raskin Patton and nephews, Alex Duchossois and Adam Raskin and a beloved circle of friends and musicians, who he embraced as family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Harriet Raskin, and his nephew, Andrew Duchossois.
Phil was internationally recognized as a thought leader in disruptive innovation, design thinking, and digital strategy and transformation. His career spanned over three decades, serving multi-national, Fortune 100 clients in more than 30 countries worldwide. As the founder of an award-winning digital agency, his leadership propelled the company from a startup to a global scope of work extending to 37 countries on six continents. He was a sought-after presenter on digital trends and innovation in the U.S., Europe, and Asia PAC.
Yet, even more important to him than his remarkable professional accomplishments was his prolific career as a jazz musician and producer. A proud alumnus of Berklee College of Music, Phil cultivated an impressive network within the improvised and broader music scenes, working alongside and producing for renowned artists like Joe Lovano, Bill Frisell, Scott Lee and Michael Bocian. During the pandemic, he lovingly revisited years of stored tapes, discovering rare live performances from Bill DeArango and Skip Hadden. Driven by a responsibility to share these gems, he collaborated with Malcolm Cecil (Grammy award-winning producer of Stevie Wonder) on their restoration and, with the guidance of his godson, Jason Berk, embarked on the journey of releasing them. The first release, Live At The Willow, featuring Skip Hadden, Bill Frisell, Michael Bocian, and Ratzo Harris, created a significant buzz. This success led him to found Resonant Artists, a platform dedicated to the release of expansive improvisational music by internationally acclaimed and emerging artists. Its mission, close to Philip's heart, was to "offer their exceptional gifts of music so they may continue to Resonate with the World; lifting and opening the spirits, hearts and minds of all who listen."
Phil was the quintessential renaissance man and a consummate host, embodying his personal mission to "spread positive energy in the universe." He was a beautiful artist, an incredible chef, a world traveler, a devoted yogi, and a car connoisseur. Phil's unwavering loyalty was famously evident in his lifelong devotion to Cleveland sports teams, a commitment that endured through countless disappointments.
There was truly no subject he couldn't speak knowledgeably about and he shared his immense love for the world through each of these passions. He was a devoted advocate for marginalized communities and causes and was a heavily involved supporter of World Central Kitchen since its inception in 2017 – a cause directly linked to his immense talent for cooking and the joy that it brought him. He was known for speaking up for what was right, always with a well-informed opinion.
Philip's profound wisdom was often distilled into his favorite Rumi quote: "Only from the heart can you touch the sky." He lived by this sentiment, touching countless lives with his generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit. He opened his home to host loved ones for countless home-cooked meals, showering hundreds of his daughter Kathryn's friends with love through his culinary creations and captivating storytelling.
Above all, Phil was the ultimate "girl dad," sharing an incredibly special and cherished relationship with his daughter, Kathryn Raskin, and her husband, Andrew Hunter. Three of the happiest days of his life were his wedding day to his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Georgeann Duchossois Raskin, the day that Kathryn was born, and the day he walked her down the aisle. He was fully present in each of those moments, creating indelible memories for his family. He will be deeply missed by Georgeann who will always say 'goodnight' to him as the day ends and Kathryn, who carries forward his legacy with a commitment to live every day with the honor and integrity he instilled in her.
His simple pleasures included tending to his garden and plants, connecting with his incredible yoga community, and spending a Sunday morning with a cup of green tea, immersed in his extensive jazz library, listening to the works of his mentors, colleagues, and friends.
Phil leaves behind a legacy of innovation, artistic passion, boundless generosity, and a life lived fully and authentically.
