LOUDONVILLE: Philip Martin Stauffer passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the age of 89, in Country Meadow Care Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 19, 1935, in Loudonville, Ohio, on the family farm to parents Albert & Audra (Easterday) Stauffer. Phil graduated from Loudonville High School with the class of 1953 and worked for the Flxible Co for nearly a year. He later began working for Mohican State Forest until being drafted into the US Army in January of 1959. In January of 1961, Phil was honorably discharged into the Army Reserves and married Marilyn Jean Shaum in June. He continued in the Army Reserves until January of 1965, while still working for the Mohican State Forest until 1969.
In March of 1969, Phil began working as an installation and repair technician for the General Telephone Co. (now Verizon) and took early retirement in December of 1996.
A lifetime resident of Loudonville, Phil grew up working and hunting on the family farm and was active in the FFA while in school. He went on to be an active community member as a member of the Hanover Grange, the Mohicanville Church (currently attending Trinity Community Church), the Pleasant Valley Community Club, the Mohican Historical Society (now Cleo Redd Fisher Museum), and a part of the Loudonville Street Fair set-up and tear-down crew.
He is survived by his sons Larry Stauffer of Wooster and Mark Stauffer of Mount Vernon; his grandchildren Zachary (Melissa) Stauffer, Hillary (Rob Sanders) Stauffer, Mallary (Luke) Boreman, Nicholas Stauffer, and Jillian Stauffer; great grandchildren Carter, Calvin, Jasmine, Zayne, Henry, and Annabelle; and his siter Cecelia (Fred) Gilt of Rittman.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Jean Stauffer; his daughter-in-law, Gale Stauffer; and his twin sisters, Naomi and Nancy Stauffer.
The Stauffer family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery with military honors.
