Phillip A. Carpenter (75), of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Monday, May 12th in the evening just as it began to rain. He was surrounded by a room full of his family by his side.
Born September 16,1949 in Fort Wayne, Indiana he was the son of the late Joy Carpenter and Norma (McClure) and James Landis. He graduated from Churubusco High School with the class of '67 and married Patricia A. Ernst on January 25, 1969. Months later he would be drafted into the Army and primarily served in Darmstadt, Germany. Phil began his career at General Electric, starting in the mail room at age 17 and upon returning from service resumed in the Aerospace department which eventually became BAE at the time of his retirement in 2011 after 44 years.
Phil is survived by his wife Pat of 56 years strong; sons Ryan, Neil, and Adam (Jamie); brother Randy Landis; granddaughters Shelby Ewell, Hope Wagner and Faith Wagner; great grandchildren Carter Ewell, Evelyn Ewell, and Bennett Ewell. Along with his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his grandson Ellis Carpenter.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a memorial of his life to follow at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home - 600 Countryside Dr. Columbia City, IN.
