Phong Huynh Obituary

Phong was born on August 23, 1973 in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. He was the son of Phat Kim Huynh and Quy Thi Nguyen. He achieved his master's degree from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Phong had a successful career in the financial services industry where he held the various roles at Goldman Sachs and was currently Managing Director at Aperio Capital Management in Hoboken, NJ. He enjoyed golf and watching football and baseball, especially cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs. Above all Phong was devoted to his loving family, his proudest moments were being a father to his cherished daughter.
Phong is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Tsui, their cherished daughter, Eva Huynh, his siblings, Que Mohring, Peter Huynh, Phuong Huynh, Phu Huynh and Quyen Huynh. Phong is adored by his numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents.
A private funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial.
Phong and Emma were married in Maui, Hawaii in 2003. It is a very special place to them and the family would be honored if in lieu of flowers donations were made to the American Red Cross Maui Wildfire Relief in Phong's memory by visiting https://www.redcross.org/donate/hawaiiwildfires.html/

I only just learned of Phong's passing yesterday. I was lucky enough to have been close friends with Phong during high school. We worked together during that time as bank tellers, his first finance job. The lobby would close at 5pm and they would leave Phong and I alone to work the drive up window until 7pm. Sometimes when our daily cash delivery came late, the head teller wouldn't have time to count it, so she would leave it for Phong and I to count in between customers. Somewhere, there are Polaroid photos taken with the "Employee of the Month" camera of 16 year-old Phong posing with a $100k in cash bulging out of every pocket and spot we could stuff it. I wish I had that photo and the chance to tell him how grateful I am to have been his friend.

I was a classmate of Phong's at NU. We had some great times together. So sad to know of his passing. We didn't see each other much after school, but it was always a great reunion when we did. He is dearly missed.
