Phyllis Ann (Smith) Adcock, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, went to be with her Lord on March 14, 2025. Phyllis was born June 26, 1938 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of J. Roy and Marjorie (Keef) Smith.
Phyllis graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Eugene Adcock, Sr. on July 14, 1956.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by three daughters, Wenona Blake and husband, Tim, April Sendelbach and friend, Michael, and Christina Wilkerson and husband, Eric; grandsons, Jonathon, Lucas, Tyler, Andon, Patrick, and Travis; granddaughters, Makayla and Adalynn; two great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
Mrs. Adcock was preceded in death by her parents and son, Ronald Eugene Adcock, Jr.
Phyllis has been a member of Central Christian Church since she was thirteen. She loved her church and enjoyed being in the open door Sunday school class.
Phyllis loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a bookkeeper by profession. Phyllis worked at E.F. Wielt, Holman Motors, Brehm-Hanna, Tyler Motors, and Outland Airport.
Phyllis was an avid bowler. She bowled for years. She and her husband coached the youth league for 15 years. Phyllis bowled in several city, state, and national tournaments. She also bowled in the senior state and national tournaments. She was inducted into the Mount Vernon Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Phyllis was a director with the State of Illinois Bowling Association. Phyllis was also inducted into the Senior Saints Hall of Fame and the State of Illinois Bowling Hall of Fame.
She will be missed dearly by those who loved her.
Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. J. Howard Kraps and Mr. Jon Henniger officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
