Phyllis M. Follo, 71, of Vernon, beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 22, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 2, 1952, in Hartford, one of five children to the late Louis A. Follo, Sr. and Philomena C. Ruggierio.
Phyllis grew up in Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of Weaver High School, Class of 1970. Following her high school years, Phyllis relocated to Windsor where she resided for many years before ultimately settling in Vernon. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 35 years at Windsor Health & Rehab, in which she was able to build many relationships before her retirement. She was a huge hockey fan and loved cheering on the Hartford Whalers in person, or from the comfort of her own home. Family was very important to Phyllis. She adored spending time with her nieces and nephews and spoiled them greatly whenever she had the chance. She was always there for them as she attended numerous events and functions that they were involved in to show support whenever she could. She had a very kind heart and was very generous as she was always there to lend a helping hand when it was asked of her. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino, especially Mohegan Sun, with her friends and family.
Phyllis is survived by her three siblings, Michael A. Follo and his wife Lucille of Enfield, MaryAnn L. Ruubel and her husband Richard of Simsbury, and Linda M. Catlett and her husband Richard of Vernon; her sister-in-law, Deanna Follo of East Windsor; her nieces and nephews, Brian Follo of Enfield, Sheri Reindeau of Enfield, Denise Reindeau of Enfield, Jeffrey Catlett of Ellington, Karen Bagley of Enfield, Nicholas Follo of East Hampton, Kara Follo of CA, and Ashley Getler of RI, as well as their families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Louis A. Follo, Jr.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., (Rte 83), in Vernon, with a prayer service to begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. To leave an online message of condolence for her family, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

Phyllis was my neighbor for years. She became family to me. She was a great friend who was always there when I needed someone to talk to. We went on many vacations together and had so much fun because we had so much in common. She loved all her family a lot and talked proudly of them all. I got to know her family and they are such lovely people. Phyllis was a very special friend. We will all miss her so much. We all have so many good memories of her to keep thinking about her. We Love to Phyllis. XXOOOXX
