Phyllis Mary Morgan Luke, age 95, of Canton passed away peacefully at the Canton Christian Home on July 20, 2025. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 30, 1929, to the late Owen and Maxine Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 58 years, Don Luke. She is survived by her son, Stephen Luke of North Canton and his partner, Scott Mckall, who became like her second son; her sister and brother – in – law, Donna and Jerry Berkebile of Canton and numerous nieces and nephews. She grew up in Canton and was a 1947 graduate of the former Lincoln High School, where she met her future husband. After graduation, she worked as an orthodontic assistant and at the lunch counter at the former Tam O'Shanter Golf Course. Later in life, she worked for a few years during the Christmas season at Spillios Candy. After their marriage, Phyllis and Don lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he was stationed in the Air Force. After three years, they returned to Canton. Phyllis prided herself on being a wife, mother and daughter and caring for her family. While her son attended Belle Stone School, she was a room mother and she became active in band parents, while Stephen was in McKinley High School band. She was an active member of the former Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed planning Sunday School socials. She also helped her husband while he held various positions in the Al Koran Shrine Club. Phyllis was always the life of the party and enjoyed hosting parties, picnics and holiday dinners. She also loved to go on cruises with Don. Phyllis was also a fan of all Cleveland sports teams and became an avid Canton McKinley Bulldogs booster after Stephen became a student there and Lincoln High School closed. She would always tell anyone who would listen, her son was a radio newscaster at WHBC. Per her wishes, she has been cremated. The family plans to hold a Celebration of life at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Canton Christian Home and Aultman Hospice for caring for Phyllis, while she battled with dementia. Memorials may be made to either the Canton Christian Home or Aultman Hospice. Phyllis was known for her love of soap operas and people knew not to call her while watching her "stories".
"As a young woman, Phyllis was Young and Restless and quite Bold and Beautiful. Our time with Phyllis sped by like The Days of Our Lives' hourglass. Even though our lives will continue, As the World Turns, she only had One Life to Live and so Phyllis has left us for Another World."
