Phyllis May, 79, of Fairland, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 25, 2024. Phyllis was born on July 17, 1945 in Arkansas to E.J. and Madge (Goodwin) Esley. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married Haskell May on March 17, 1983 in Broken Arrow, OK. They were happily married for 41 years. After retiring they moved to Fairland, Oklahoma in 2001.
Phyllis enjoyed butterflies, cooking, sewing and doing special things for family around the holidays, particularly making her special Christmas candies. She also loved her dog, Winnie.
She loved working in the yard and tending to her flowers which were so special to her and filling her home with special what-nots that she had collected and enjoyed through the years.
She began her career as a secretary at the church she attended in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She went on to spend many years at Amerada Hess Oil Company and eventually retired from Cains Coffee/Sara Lee.
She attended Southern Hills Baptist Church.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Esley and Eddie Esley.
She is survived by her husband, Haskell May of the home. Sister, Tricia Welch; Daughter, Traci Hamon and husband Josh, son, Michael Rodden and wife Adrienne; Mark May and wife Debbie, Pam Fell and husband Charlie, Greg May and Brian Frederick. Eleven grandchildren, Kylie, Nora, Rexi, Sean, Gracie, JJ, David, Greg, Chelsea, Megan, and Courtney. Eight great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. May's Celebration of Life is 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel in Miami, Oklahoma With Reverend Terry Smith officiating.
