We celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother whose faith in God was the foundation of everything she did. She loved Jesus with her whole heart, not just in words, but in the way she lived each day. Her faith was steady, sincere, and visible, even in life's hardest moments.
She was a devoted wife of over sixty-five years to her loving husband, Merrill T. Means. As a military wife for twenty-six years, she was known to open her home to air force personnel who were often in need of a home cooked meal or a stand-in mom. She loved her family and extended family. She also had a deep love for missions and for God's work beyond her own walls. Her heart was always turned outward, believing that God's love was meant for the whole world. She understood that following Jesus meant caring about others, near and far.
Her faith in God shaped her choices, her priorities, and her relationships. She trusted God deeply, and that trust carried her through joy and sorrow alike. More than anything, she loved people and she gave generously of her resources, time and heart. Many felt known, welcomed, and uplifted because of her kindness. Her life was a living testimony of God's love in action.
While we grieve her loss, we also give thanks. We are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind; a legacy of faith, compassion, perseverance and obedience to God's call. Her life points us to Jesus, and her example will continue to inspire us to love God, love people, and serve with open hearts.
