Phyllis J. Pfeil, age 86, of Canton passed away Saturday December 14, 2024 of a brief illness while at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community. She was born October 19, 1938 in Akron to her parents, the late, Raymond and Letitia (Fargo) Paulus. She enjoyed camping and baking especially at the holidays. The family shares so many of those camping travel memories which started early in their lives. After her husband's retirement they pulled a camper clear to Alaska and enjoyed spending time in both Florida and Ohio.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Pfeil Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, James (Brenda) Pfeil and Christopher (Terrie) Pfeil; daughter, Joellen (Paul) Hartzell; four grandchildren, Zachary Pfeil, Mackenzie (Danielle) Pfeil, Jacqueline Pfeil, and Andrew (Alexis) Hartzell; three brothers, Richard (Hope) Paulus, Ronald (Margaret) Paulus and Leonard (Janice) Paulus; three sisters, Letitia Karr, Kathleen Paulus and Arlene (Paul) Rusk; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10am at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist (627 McKinley Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44703) with the Very Rev. Fr. Dr. David M. Misbrener (Rector). Calling hours will be Friday from 6pm to 8pm at Reed Funeral Home CANTON Chapel (705 Raff Rd. SW, Canton, OH 44710). She will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. You are invited to visit www.reedfuneralhome.com to share condolences and fond memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (https://act.alz.org).
