Phyllis L. Sands of Newburg, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the age of 86.
Phyllis was born to the late Lewis Arthur Turner and Cecelia Roberta "Sis" Wilson Turner on May 7, 1938, in Rolla, Missouri. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by: her son, Orel Lee Sands; infant brother, Lewis Leon Turner; sister Joyce Hoss; brother-in-law Charlie Hoss; and nephew Dean Hoss.
Phyllis was very loved and adored. Nana was her favorite name since it was given to her by her grandkids almost forty years ago. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson were the light of her life. Spending time with them and doing anything she could to help when needed gave her the greatest joy. She was a strong, independent, Christian who enjoyed being outside, doing yard work, and keeping her small farm immaculate. Sewing projects, cooking holiday meals, reading her bible, and listening to Jimmy Swaggart's ministries were some of her favorite pastimes. It is comforting to know she is now in the arms of our loving Savior.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes: her two daughters, Marcia Martin and husband, Gene of Rolla, MO, and Myra Ragan of Vichy, MO; her Daughter-in-law Claudia Sands of Jefferson City, MO; Grandchildren, Casey Kuhljuergen and husband, Andy, Holden Sands and wife, Amanda; great-grandson Gene Kuhljuergen; and special niece Joy Arcese.
A funeral service for Phyllis L. Sands will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, beginning at 1 pm at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, MO. A visitation for family and friends will be held before the service beginning at 11:30 am. Interment will occur directly after the service at Pea Ridge Cemetery in Doolittle, MO.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rolla First Youth Group.
