Phyllis C. Wilson, age 84, of
Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred (Lowry) Hassfurder, was born on February 18, 1940, in Madison. She was a 1958 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School. On August 16, 1959, she was united in marriage to Wilbur L. Wilson at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Madison, and they were blessed with two children: Cathy and Tony. Throughout the years, she babysat and helped raise many children in the community, helped care for family members and the elderly, and enjoyed doing bookkeeping on the side. In 1983, she began her career at Scott & Callicotte where she was the office manager and would faithfully work for the next 41 years. Phyllis was a very loyal member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. More than anything, she loved her family dearly and was always ready to feed an army. Without a doubt, she was the kind of person you would want to meet. Mrs. Wilson passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Cathy Taflinger and her husband, Mark of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Tony Wilson and his wife, Brenda of Madison; her sister: Joyce McMullen and her husband, Tom of Fishers, Indiana; her brother: Mike Hassfurder and his wife, Susan of Fishers; her grandchildren: Brent Taflinger and his wife, Miranda of Campbellsburg, Kentucky, Kassandra Wilson of Madison, Sarah Shuffitt and her husband, Eric of Sellersburg, Indiana; Lindsette Shreve and her husband, Scotty of Anchorage, Alaska; her great-grandchildren: Paden, Brooklyn, Gwendolyn, Oliver, Koltyn, Penelope, Landyn, Magnolia, and she was anxiously awaiting the birth of Oaklynn; her brother-in-law: David Wolfschlag and his companion, Teressa of Madison; her sister-in-law: Judy Monroe of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Wilbur Wilson; her sister-in-law: Phyllis Wolfschlag; and her brother-in-law: Dannye Monroe.
