Preston Mathis Duffy, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away tragically at the young age of 19 on August 4, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on September 8, 2005, to Chad Michael and Jessica Marie (Pearson) Duffy, in Warsaw, Indiana, Preston's journey through life, though brief, was marked by a profound impact on those around him.
A graduate of Manchester High School in 2024, Preston was an active and spirited individual. He excelled in various sports, including football, golf, and wrestling, showcasing both his athletic talent and academic ability. His senior year was marked by a state run in wrestling at 215 lb. Following his high school graduation, he pursued a career as a lineman, completing his training at the Southeast Lineman Training Center in Trenton, Georgia, where he graduated from Class #75. Here he took home the coveted “Slim” award for his hands on pole circle training group. During his time at SLTC, he also achieved his drone FAA remote pilot license and CDL. His work took him across the United States, with his most recent assignment as a substation technician in the Fort Worth area, where he made it a point to connect with his community and immerse himself in his faith.
Preston’s deep-rooted belief in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided him throughout his life. Regardless of where he found himself working, he always sought out a church, most recently attending The Fountains Fellowship in Fort Worth. His faith was a cornerstone of his character, influencing his interactions and the way he loved those around him.
Preston was known for his goal-oriented nature, always looking ahead and striving for improvement. While he had the physical presence of a big burly guy, he balanced this with a tender and soft spirit. Many remember him for his charismatic personality, infectious humor, and a great sense of goofiness that warmed the hearts of those who knew him. A multi-faceted individual, Preston enjoyed cooking for others, tinkering around on various projects and cherished his time spent in nature, whether hunting or fishing.
Among his numerous admirable qualities, Preston was especially protective of his family and friends. His capacity for love extended to everyone he encountered, regardless of their background. An intelligent individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, he approached life with enthusiasm and drive, leaving a lasting impression on friends and family alike.
