Purle Detty Obituary

She was born June 15, 1927 in Vinton County to the late Earl and Mazie (Thomas) Riddle. On January 2, 1946 she married Ray Detty who preceded her in death on September 18, 2006.
She is survived and loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her son; Timothy Detty.
Purle attended Vinton County High School and was a graduate of Southeastern High School, class and 1947. She retired from Smith-Fieke Minton Insurance in 1997.
In her lifetime Purle was very active. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, scrabble and was an active golfer. In 1968 she achieved the elusive hole-in-one. A dream not many golfers can claim. She was a life long Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Bengals fan. Her and Ray enjoyed many games together throughout their marriage. She a was a member of the silver sneakers at Body Zone where she made many lifelong friends.
She was a member of the First Church of Chillicothe. Purle served many years on the Ross County Board of Elections.
After Tim's passing, two special people, Tina Rinehart and Sandy Stabler assumed the role of caregivers to Purle. These two ladies worked together to assure Purle would be taken care of in her later life and were with her until the end. It was an honor for them. She loved them as family as they did love her.
Purle also wanted to give special thanks to Leah Bolt who was her special aid, and also, all of the hospice nurses and aids at National Church Residences as well as Pastor Aaron Hines. Purle was one of the strongest women that we have ever known. Intelligent beyond measure. She will be truly missed.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Ross County Humane Society 2308 A Lick Run Road Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
