Rachael Louise (Jacobs) Gummersbach, 48, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2025. She was born on December 21, 1976, in Akron, Ohio, the first child of Wesley and Ellen (Rea) Jacobs.

Rachael graduated from Westerville North High School in 1995 and went on to earn a B.A. in Psychology from The Ohio State University. After college, she lived in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was married and had her first child. She worked as both a nanny and a wedding planner—roles that reflected her natural talent for care, organization, and connection. She later spent four years in Germany with her husband, where their second child was born. Throughout her life, Rachael’s work and heart were centered on caring for others.

Her greatest joy was being a mother to her two beloved children, Quinn and Theo, and a devoted wife to her husband, Joe. Family was the foundation of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Rachael was a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes fan, led an active lifestyle, and was an accomplished cook. She will be remembered for her engaging personality, sharp wit, boundless generosity, and her ability to light up any room.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gabriel Jacobs. She is survived by her husband, Joe; her children, Quinn and Theo; her parents, Wesley and Ellen; her siblings, Nathan (Suzanne) Jacobs, Emily Jacobs, and Katherine Jacobs; and nineteen cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, at Harlem Road Church, 5520 Harlem Road, Galena, OH 43021. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with service at 12:00 pm. Lunch will be served following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys and Girls Club of America.
