Rachel Ann Reese Barlow, 81, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at her residence in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

She was born on May 9, 1944 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late William A. Reese, Sr. and the late Ruth Holcomb Reese. Rachel received an associate degree from Draughons Junior College in Nashville and worked several years as a heavy equipment operator with International Comfort Products in Lewisburg. She loved planting and growing flowers, making and painting ceramics, and most of all she adored all children.

Survivors include her son Robert M. Barlow of Chapel Hill; daughter Dorothy Lynn Thomas of Nashville; five grandchildren, David M. Bible, Matthew A. Bible, Alexus N. Barlow, Elizabeth A. Barlow, and Bradley R. Barlow; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Harwell and Leslie Kelley; a brother Teddy Reese; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Richard Lewis Morgan; a granddaughter Christy Powell; and three brothers, Buddy Reese, Pete Reese and Earl Reese.

Active pallbearers will be David Bible, Michael Reese, Johnny Reese, and B.J. Harwell. Ken Voight will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
