Rachel Anna Guisinger, 93, of Marysville, peacefully passed away on January 30th at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Rachel was born on February 15, 1931 in Mount Victory to the late Charles and Anna Mouser, and grew up on the family farm. She married Samuel L. Guisinger on September 24, 1949 and they shared 57 wonderful years together before his passing.
After staying home to raise their young children, Rachel went to work at Ranco Controls in Plain City in 1962. She worked very hard and met lots of good friends there, retiring in 1992. In their retirement, Rachel and Sam spent their weekends fishing and camping at Dogwood Valley campground in Mt. Gilead.
They also enjoyed playing cards and bingo with friends and family and showing off their dancing skills. They were both in bowling leagues and attended many out-of-town tournaments together. Sam and Rachel were known for their square-dancing routines and for mastering the jitterbug.
An excellent cook, she often rolled out homemade noodles for Sunday dinner and would make a pot of stew out of any type of meat her sons would bring home from hunting. She loved to pick fresh berries in the summertime and made wonderful pies and cobbler.
After Sam passed away in 2006, Rachel continued to live and love life. She had been a member of the Marysville Methodist Church, the Marysville Moose Lodge and CASC (Community and Seasoned Citizens). She loved to gather with friends and would line dance several times per week, often entertaining others at performances around the county. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Known for her selflessness, and kind, generous spirit, she adored her family and treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Rachel is survived by her children, Lynn (Jerry) Owen, Roger (Sharon) Guisinger, Shirley Sparks and Sam Guisinger Jr., all who live locally; her grandchildren, Tricia (John) Daniels, Jared (Brittani) Owen, Charlotte (Mike) Boyd, Brian (Krista) Neill, Melissa Guy, Darran (Liberty) Conley, and Jim (Yvonne) Conley; 20 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren (with one more on the way!); sister-in-law, Bernice Banks; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel L. Guisinger; her son-in-law, Ernie Sparks; brothers, Jim (Pat) Mouser and Charles (Carol) Mouser; sister, Fern (Earl) Heilman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline (Albert) Ianni, Betty Bradford, Imogene (Paul) Riegel, Herman "Butch" (Shirley) Guisinger, Mary Ann Guisinger, Ruth (Aaron) Holycross, and Jerry Banks; and infant great-grandson, Dylan Conley.
Calling hours will be 4-8pm Monday, February 3, 2025, at Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, where funeral services to celebrate Rachel's life will be 11 am Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
