On September 11, 1980, Rae Marie Hockett graced this Earth with her amazing smile and helpful spirit. She was born to Reverend Johnny Ray and Lisa Turner in Humboldt, Tennessee. Rae Marie took Our Lord's hand on May 6, 2025, after forty-four years, blessing all those who knew and loved her.
Rae Marie married the love of her life, Jason Travis Hockett the son of Emerson and Kaye Hockett on March 13, 2009. Rae Marie and Jason were blessed with three beautiful children from their union. Brooklyn Rae Hockett (12), Jason Travis Hockett II (8), and Emerson Turner Hockett (5) were her pride and joy. Rae Marie was the greatest wife and mother, always providing a nurturing and loving spirit to her family and all those she met. Her memory and legacy will be carried on throughout her children and family
Rae Marie was loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings: Celeste and Drew Bradley of Chattanooga, TN, Ashley and Darius Williams of Nashville, TN, Valerie Hockett of New York, NY, Kayla and Deo Sanders of Houston, TX, Jasmine and Alex Sweet of Nashville, TN, Patrick Hockett of Jackson, TN and Emerson Hockett of Paducah, KY. Rae Marie adored her nieces and nephews Spencer Bradley, Austin Bradley, Jordyn Williams, Jaxon Williams, MaKenna Sanders, Levi Sanders, Deo Sanders Jr., Reign Sweet, and Emma Hockett.
Rae was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Alberta Turner, Johnny Fisher, James Simmons, and Blanche Simmons, Clyde and Bernice Stunson along with her second father, Emerson Hockett.
Rae Marie was a supportive friend and always spread love to others around her, including her best friends Keli Gooch and Lakisha Mitchell. She was the heart of a vast number of extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
As a graduate of Humboldt High School, Rae's passion for helping others continued as she obtained her nursing degree from the University of Memphis. Always striving to do more, Rae continued her education and obtained her Masters in Science, Nurse Practitioner degree. She worked for numerous entities, including Scates Family Medicine in Somerville, TN, The Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN, and Semmes - Murphy Neurologic and Spine Institute. For the past six years, Rae has worked with Methodist Medical Group - Cardiovascular Surgery, treating patients with all types of heart conditions. Rae worked closely with Dr. Gregory Fink, her counterpart Matt Blankenship, and with one of her closest friends, Persephone Burnett. Anyone who worked with Rae agreed that she constantly went above and beyond to provide the best care and support to her patients. Whether she was on call over the weekend or spending long hours in the operating room, Rae's passion for helping others was always noticed. Rae was well respected for her knowledge and the high degree of work ethic that she always provided.
Family and friends who spent time with Rae describe her as a devoted wife and mother. Her husband was the light of her life, and she enjoyed every minute she spent with him, from travels to the beach to old school concerts to long walks at Shelby Farms. Her children will carry on her legacy as Brooklyn shares the same spirit of service for helping others, Emerson shares the same big smile that lights up a room, and as Jase spreads the same wise words from God. Rae Marie will continue to live on through them and so many others.
