Rafael Duncan Castillo November 4, 1955 – August 18, 2025 Rafael Castillo, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on November 4, 1955, to Adolfo Garcia Castillo and Rosa Duncan, Rafael lived a full life rooted in family, hard work, and faith. He dedicated 40 years of service to UCISD, where he worked as a supervisor in the maintenance and custodial department. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature, Rafael took pride in his work and the community he served. Rafael enjoyed welding, riding his Harley Davidson, and working on his ranch-pastimes that reflected his love for craftsmanship, freedom, and the outdoors. He was a devout Catholic, whose faith guided him throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved life partner, Arminda Treviño; his daughter, Helen Marie Castillo Flores and her husband Juan Manuel Flores Jr. of Cleburne, Texas; and three stepsons, Adrian Treviño, Abel Treviño, and Freddy Treviño, all of Uvalde, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Minerva Chambers and her husband Leighton of Hondo, Texas. Rafael was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Raul Jaquez and companion Clarissa Torres, Nicholas Jaquez, Adam Jaquez, Juan Manuel Flores III, Pedro Cruz Flores, Andriah Y. Treviño, and Alfredo M. Treviño. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Azriel Torres Jaquez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Rosa, and his sisters Elena Castillo and Norma DeHoyos. A visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. Rafael will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
