Ralph Schmuckal

Ralph Philip Schmuckal, Jr. passed away on December 4, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1947 to Patricia (Barry) and Ralph Schmuckal, Sr. in Detroit, MI. Ralph always knew he was his parents' favorite son. Ralph graduated from Brother Rice High School in Birmingham, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University where Ralph met the love of his life, Christine Kaminski. They were married for 52 years at the time of Christine's death on July 22, 2024. Ralph continued his education by completing a Master's Degree of Business Administration (MBA) at Eastern Michigan University.

Ralph held a variety of licenses including Ham Radio, Realtor, Insurance, and as a Contractor. Ralph devoted his life to education, he enjoyed learning. He shared this devotion with students at Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University and University of Michigan in the subjects of Finance and in Business Management. Ralph served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. Ralph was discharged with the rank of Staff Platoon Sergeant.

Ralph inherited the gift of gab from his mother and his sense of humor from his father. Christine and Ralph were inseparable during their marriage. Ralph was active in several community endeavors. Ralph participated with the Optimist Club for many years making lifelong friendships. Ralph was an active member with the Knights of Columbus and Plymouth American Legion. Ralph understood the importance of being involved in his community and served as a Board member of Pittsfield Township.

Funeral arrangements are provided by Nie Family Funeral Home. On December 15, 2025, viewing will be held at the Nie Funeral Home 2400 Carpenter Rd., Ann Arbor MI 48108 from 5pm to 6pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6pm. Ralph's funeral will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on December 16, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to St Jude's Hospital or Franciscan Friars of Cincinnati Ohio.

The family would like to thank Atria Senior Living for the compassion and dedication to providing care for Ralph. The staff was attentive and supportive to his needs. Thank you also to Arbor Hospice for the transition home from the hospital. The caregivers at both of these organizations are exceptional.
