Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Pruitt Health, Mr. Ramon Alfonso Jimenez, age 80, of Martinez, Georgia.
Family members include his sons: Richard Jimenez, John Jimenez (Tori), Michael Jimenez; daughter: Wendy Ayres (Jamie); brother: Jorge Jimenez; grandchildren: Ezra, Robert, Zachary and James Jimenez, Mitchell and Gaige Gilbert and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ramon moved to the United States in 1960. He was the first of his family to get here and lived in New York. He learned to speak English by going to the movies and had a job delivering groceries on his bike. His parents and brothers, Jorge and Albert came to the US a little later and they all moved to Augusta. He attended Butler High School.
Ramon was a good father. He coached his son’s baseball teams for years, taught them how to play golf and loved to talk about how good his daughter was at basketball. He would inspire the boys with stories of attending Braves games when Hank Aaron was playing. The family made many trips to the mountains and the beach. He was a fun and loving father who made his children and friends laugh. He would take the boys to movies and sneak in for a second show telling the boys “Don’t tell mom”.
Ramon was a landscaper by trade, owning and operating his own business. He loved landscaping and caring for plants and roses. He also loved rum raisin iced cream and Coca Cola.
A Memorial service will be held in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time service. Memorials may be made to the American Rose Society: 8877 Jefferson Paige Rd. Shreveport, LA 71119, rose.org
