Obituary lovingly written by the family of Richard Kappel...

Randall 'Randy' Neil Kappel passed away August 12th, 2025.
He was born March 21st, 1958 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Cloyd Marvin Kappel and Vivian Lois Lombard. He was a member of the National Guard McDonald County.

If you ever met Randy Kappel, you didn't need to ask where he was in a room - you could hear him. He might have been on the shorter side, but Randy's voice carried like a man twice his size. At 67 years old, he'd perfected the art of making sure you caught every word... and every laugh. If you ever spent more than five minutes with Randy Kappel, you probably heard two things: a fishing story and an oilfield story. And depending on the day, you weren't entirely sure which one was more exaggerated.

Randy loved fishing the way some people love breathing - it wasn't a hobby, it was part of who he was. He could spend hours out on the water, patient as ever, waiting for that perfect bite...and then spend twice as long telling you about it afterward. And just like with fishing, his oilfield stories only seemed to get better with time. He could paint a picture so vivid, you felt like you were right there with him covered in grease, grinning ear to ear.

He had a knack for making people feel welcome. Randy never let a quiet moment stay quiet for long - there was always a joke, a story, or that signature chuckle that seemed to sneak out before he even finished the punchline. He taught us that hard work was worth it, that patience pays off, and a good story is meant to be shared.

Randy left us with more than just memories --he left us with laughter, lessons, and the reminder that life is better when you've got a fishing pole in one hand and a story in the other. We'll miss him dearly, but know somewhere right now, he's reeling in a big one and already figuring out how to make it sound even bigger.

Randy is survived by Allison Ware, husband David Ware, and three of his grandchildren Keerstin, Alivia, and Aiden. Daughter, Amber Kappel of Noel, Missouri. Oldest grandson, Dylan Holland and wife Nariah of Lanagan, Missouri, along with his four Great Grandchildren Damian, Neveah, Arabella, and Koda. Oldest granddaughter, Corina of Noel. Son, Paul Thompson of Noel, Missouri. Daughter, Amy, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Brother Johnny Kappel and wife Nancy of Granby. Sister Sheila Ramey of Fayetteville, Arkansas. His very close to him nephews Josh, Daniel, Jd Kappel. Along with a whole lot of family and friends who care a great deal about him.

He is preceded in death by his parents. His brother Jim Head. His beloved wife, JoAnn.
