Ray Riley, a loving father, devoted grandfather, cherished brother, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on September 10, 2023, at the age of 75. He was born on July 11, 1948, in Falmouth, Kentucky, and resided in Alexandria, Kentucky.
Throughout his life, Ray had a strong passion for the outdoors. He found solace in fishing, hunting, camping, and boating, embracing the beauty of nature that surrounded him. It was during these moments that he created lasting memories with his family and friends. In Ray's later years his adventurous spirit was exemplified in his love for driving around, enjoying the scenic landscapes that captivated him.
Ray had a special place in his heart for supporting local farmers, always taking time to stop by and share the bounty of fresh vegetables with his loved ones. He believed in the importance of community and went above and beyond to lend a helping hand, not only through his construction expertise but also by offering financial assistance to his family even when they didn't need it. He always wanted to take care of the people he loved.
Early in his career Ray was in charge of the supplies for the lineman and setting power line poles for Fischback & Moore Electric Group, a subsidiary of CG&E; but his true passions were building and working with his hands. He accomplished remarkable feats in the construction industry. He owned his own construction company, where he passionately built homes for his daughters, as well as a few other family members. His dedication to his craft was evident in every project he undertook, from remodeling homes to any other home repair that was needed.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. He will forever be cherished by his daughters, Carrie (Mike) O'Day II and Carla (Randy) Craig, his adoring grandchildren, Rilee O'Day, Nick O'Day, Maggie (Andrew) Mextorf, and Rachel (David) Sheldon, his great-granddaughter, McKinley Grace O'Day and his sister, Reda Neace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezekiel and Carrie Riley; brothers, Gene, James, and Ronald Riley; sisters, Bertha Floyd and Freda Agee.
A funeral service to celebrate the remarkable life of Ray Riley will be held on September 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington Street, Alexandria, KY 41001. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will begin at 9:30 am. Following the funeral service, Ray will be laid to rest at Alexandria Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in Ray's memory to The Christ Hospital Foundation - Heart and Vascular Center.
In this time of grief, may we remember Ray for his compassionate nature, his zest for life, and his unwavering dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
