Ray William Thompson

Ray William Thompson, 76, of Snellville passed away peacefully at his home on March 4, 2024.
Mr. Thompson is a native of Tampa, Florida, but he relocated to Gwinnett County in 1978. He was an active member of the community as a local businessman and volunteer in various youth league sports and the South Gwinnett football touchdown club.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Angie Thompson, his brother Gene Thompson Jr. and his former wife Toni Hopkins Thompson. Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife Ronda Rice Thompson. He is also survived by five children -- Michael Thompson (Chesann), Matthew Thompson (Aimee), Andy Thompson (Lisa), Josh Thompson and Melissa Thompson Ferretti. He is survived by step-children Keith Cowart (Crystal) and Khrista Cowart.
He was loved and adored by his eight grandchildren who also survive him – Will Thompson, Hallie Thompson, Cole Thompson, Grady Ward, Drew Thompson, Iris Ferretti, Brody Cowart and Brantley Cowart.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed spending time with his family and split his time between his home in Snellville and other homes in Shellman, Lake Eufaula and Panama City Beach. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog Hollie, who was his constant companion. Mr. Thompson retired in 2023 from the company he built for 43 years -- R.W. Thompson, Inc. He leaves behind a legacy of success and community service.
The memorial service to celebrate the Ray William Thompson will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you please consider a donation to Anniston Road Church, 4554 Annistown Road, Snellville, GA 30039 in memory of Ray William Thompson, where Mr. Thompson regularly attended services.
