Ray Weldin

Ray A. Weldin, age 77, of Talleyville, DE died Saturday, September 7, 2024. Ray was a life-long resident of Brandywine Hundred.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob Atwood and Elsie H. Weldin, and his sister Jenny Lee Megill.
Ray is survived by the two loves of his life, his wife Jeanne of 50 years, and his daughter Kristina of Martinsville, VA, as well as nephew Terry Hall (Stephanie) and several cousins.
Ray was a graduate of Temple University and the University of Dayton, earing degrees in Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering.
He retired from ATK Tactical Systems, Co., LLC as a supervisor of Process Engineering, Elkton Operations.
In the 1960's, 70's, and 80's Ray played bass guitar at an array of local venues in various rock bands. Listening to various genres of music and going to rock concerts was a constant joy and passion.
Ray enjoyed going to NASCAR races and yearly vacation to Hatteras Island with close friends and Jeanne's cousins from New Jersey. For several years, he and Jeanne could be found at their weekly bowling league, Rock n' Rollers Bowling League.
Ray was a member and past Vice President of the Delaware Valley Camaro Club where he nurtured wonderful friendships with many Camaro Enthusiasts. On weekends, Ray could often be found taking Jeanne and her '69 Camaro to car shows throughout the region.
For over 28 years Ray was the President of Newark Union Church and Cemetery, a State of Delaware Historic Site, and now a National Historic Site.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 1 pm at Newark Union Church, 8 Newark Union Public Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803, with burial to follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ray's name to Newark Union Church and Cemetery (at the above address) for continuing restoration projects of this historic landmark that meant so much to Ray.
