Raymond F. Paquette

Raymond Frederick Paquette, Jr., affectionately known as "Ray," 79 of Raleigh, North Carolina died peacefully on December 6th at Transitions Life Care. He was born on July 26, 1945 in Florence, South Carolina.After joining the US Navy in 1963, Paquette was stationed at Treasure Island near San Francisco where he received his electronics training. He excelled in electronics, and it became his life career. Paquette served aboard the USS Truckee and was deployed in the Mediterranean. Ray received an Honorable Discharge in August 1966.He began his civilian career in Norfolk, Virginia with IBM where he worked for 12 years while attending Old Dominion University.Ray was a Renaissance Man with a passion for reading and studying history, philosophy, and science. His passion for politics was well known. He had a lifelong love of knowledge. Together with his wife, Catherine, he loved traveling and especially sailing.Ray is survived by his wife of 41 years, Catherine Campbell and son, Joseph Avery Campbell. Other survivors include his granddaughters Lindsey Ripley and her children McKenna, Callie and Caden from Boynton Beach Florida and Holly Shahan (Jamie) and their boys Kane and Archer from Boca Raton, Florida., and his nephew Henry Asbury Paquette Jr. (Louann) from Gulf Breeze, Florida He was predeceased by his sons Raymond Frederick Paquette, III and Matthew Birch Campbell. He was also predeceased by his and grandson Nick and brother Henry Asbury Paquette.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7506 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, North Carolina with the Rev.
