Raymond Charles Schroer, age 75, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Schroer was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers.
Raymond was a farmer, employed at Findley Industries, and he retired from Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Seymour. He was in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1967 to 1973, and he was a member of the American Legion, Borchers Breakfast Club, and Seymour Senior Center.
Raymond loved and cherished his family, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved gardening, fishing, camping, butchering, wine making, and RC Airplanes. Raymond was looking forward to a trip to Germany later this summer.
Born on September 16, 1948, in Seymour, Raymond was the son of Wilbert and Elsa (Darlage) Schroer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Mary Kloppenburg, the mother of his children, and she survives in Bloomington.
Survivors include one son, Aaron (Julie) Schroer of Brownstown; one daughter, Lisa (Brian) DeVault of Franklin; a special friend, Carmen Herkamp of Seymour; two brothers: Leonard (Sharlot) Schroer of Seymour, and Leslie (Barb) Schroer of Brownstown; one sister, Florence Otte of Seymour; four grandchildren: Faith Sumpter of Freetown, Cassius Sumpter of Brownstown, Daniel DeVault of Franklin, and Emily DeVault of Franklin; and one great-grandson, Ali Banuelos of Freetown.
Besides his parents, Raymond was also preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Kenneth Bode; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Laretha Schroer; brother-in-law, Gerald Otte; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Jolene Banuelos.
Funeral services for Raymond Charles Schroer will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, with Pastor Steve Wood officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers.
Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, Breakfast Club.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff of Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
