Raymond J. Staggs, age 88 of Joelton, Tennessee died Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock pm, Wednesday, November 13th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Jackson Watts and Bro. Bruce Lowhorn officiating.
Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with Eric Staggs, Shane Staggs, Hunter Staggs, Joe Higgins, Josh Butler, Josh Marriott, and Hunter Anderson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 12th from 4:00-8:00PM, and again on Wednesday beginning at 12:00PM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.
Mr. Staggs was born on March 13, 1936 in Summertown, Tennessee to the late Earl & Bertha Burlinson Staggs. He was the sales manager at Imperial Foods, and longtime owner of B.J.'s family restaurant in Pleasant View and Pleasant View Meats. Mr. Staggs was a retired Baptist deacon for 50 years and a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Ed, Joe, and Lloyd Staggs; sisters, Gladys Stidham and Betty Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Clara Sullivan Staggs; sons, Howard (Kelly) Staggs, Bubba (Cheryl) Staggs, and John (Emily) Staggs; grandchildren, Rachel (Joe) Higgins, Eric (Crystal) Staggs, Caitlin (Josh) Marriott, Shane (Cayla) Staggs, Logan (Josh) Butler, Hunter Staggs, and Laura (Hunter) Anderson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Staggs memory to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
