Raynold "Worth" Allen, III passed away August 11, 2025 in Montpelier, VT. Worth was born August 17, 1979 in Charlotte, NC to Worth and Charlain Allen. Worth grew up in Charlotte, a graduate of Myers Park High School in 1997. Worth graduated from Western Carolina University in 2001 with his B.S. in Criminal Justice. Worth graduated Washington State University, in 2004 with his M.A. in Criminal Justice.

Worth lived in Marblemount, WA with his beloved cat Midnight from 2004-2012, employed as a Washington State Fish and Wildlife Officer. Worth loved the environment and animals above all else and lived to protect them both.

In 2012, Worth continued his career with the National Park Service. During his training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Jekyll Island, FL he was awarded the Expert Marksmanship Award. Also, Worth served as a National Park Federal Officer in Yosemite National Park, CA and Big Bend National Park, TX.

Worth's next adventure took him to Vermont Law and Graduate School where he graduated in 2019 with his Juris Doctorate. Worth loved living in beautiful places and Montpelier was surely one of those. He walked to work where he was an Administrative Law Judge for the Vermont Department of Labor.

Worth loved to travel, from climbing Mt. Kenya in Africa to scuba diving in Fiji. Worth was an athlete from a young age with basketball then track and cross country in high school and college. Worth loved the fine arts as well, he was thrilled to dress up for an opera, ballet, or theater. And he was just as happy living in a tent for two weeks on the side of a mountain.

Worth's love for animals knew no end and his cat, Aldo, was his very best companion and loyal friend. Be kind to animals and when you cuddle a cat, remember Worth.

Worth is survived by his loving parents Worth and Charlain Allen, sister Selwyn (Jason), nephew and nieces Colton, Layla and Stella Mae Wishnefsky. Worth was adored by his Aunt Terrie (John) Davis and a long list of cousins. Worth leaves dear friends in Montpelier, VT including his best friend, Sophie Ehrhardt.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, R. Worth Allen Sr and Atha Allen, E. Murray Adams and Mae Adams, and his Aunt Gail Allen Lake.

A Memorial Service will be held at Providence United Methodist Church, 2811 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC on September 13, 2025 at 11:00.

I had the pleasure of working with Worth when he was a Fish and Wildlife Officer in Marblemount. Worth and I worked a lot of great patrols together and I remember having many interesting conversations. We ran a decoy patrol on the top of Rainy Pass and had to call it quits when neither one of us could feel our fingers or toes. He was kind and thoughtful and very smart. My sincere condolences to his friends and family, he was a dear soul.

I worked with Worth while he was employed by WDFW Police, in Washington State. Worth was very passionate about his work and took great pride in what he did. Thoughts and prayers to his family during this very difficult time.

I remember when Worth came to work for the Montpelier post office. I was the Postmaster. My supervisor Liane and I interviewed Worth and were quite impressed with his life and background. We were lucky to have him. Eventually he left the USPS but I heard he returned and I saw him delivering mail one day which made me smile. Nicest guy you could ever meet! My condolences to the loved ones he left behind.
