Elaine Gray (nee Reba Bridges) of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Elaine was born on June 26, 1932, in Keota, Oklahoma, to Herschel Alvin and Allie Mae Bridges. She grew up in California with her siblings, Norman Bridges and Paula Bridges-Gordon, in a loving home and remained close to them throughout their lives. Elaine graduated from Tulare High School in Tulare, California, and later studied art at The College of the Sequoias.

In 1950, Elaine married Herman Ray Gray, with whom she built a life filled with travel, love, laughter, and family. They were married for 64 years and raised four children, Darrell Ray Gray, David Alan Gray, B. Keith Gray, and Karen Elaine (Jeffrey) Ellis. Elaine was a devoted mother who instilled her values of kindness, compassion, and faith in her children. She was always there to offer support, guidance, and a listening ear.

Elaine was also a cherished grandmother to Cameron Ray Gray, Jackson Gray Ellis, and Caroline Elaine Ellis. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and was always proud of their accomplishments. Elaine had a special bond with each of them, and they will always carry her memory in their hearts.

Elaine was a gifted artist who was passionate about her artwork and had mastered many mediums. She enjoyed teaching art at Senior Living facilities and exhibited her work in many galleries and museums. Elaine won numerous awards and sold her artwork worldwide. She was an avid student of the Bible, was a wonderful pianist, and loved socializing and playing board games with family and friends. Her artistic talent, as well as her love of music, brought joy to all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of beauty, creativity, and faith that will continue to inspire and uplift others.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ray Gray, her son, Darrell Ray Gray, and her siblings, Norman Bridges, and Paula Bridges-Gordon. While mourning our loss, we are reminded that she is reunited with her Lord and Savior and loved ones who have gone before her.

Elaine will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends, who will remember her for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love. She will be remembered as a woman of faith who lived her life with grace, dignity, and compassion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Elaine. Your memory will live on through the beauty you created, the faith you shared, and the love you gave. You will never be forgotten; until we meet again.

Memorials may be made in Elaine’s name to the Art Department at Saint Dominic High School, O’Fallon, Missouri.
