Rebecca Jane Jones Wise, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Merritt Island, Florida, at the age of 72.
Born on August 20, 1952, to Mary Catherine McCrorie and Thomas Alvin Jones in Fairfield, Alabama. Rebecca lived a life marked by creativity, compassion, and a fierce devotion to those she loved.
Rebecca spent most of her formative years in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where she graduated with the Class of 1970 from Cocoa Beach High School. Her life as a military spouse later took her across the globe, living in places such as Bermuda, Spain, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Despite the many adventures and distant shores, Rebecca eventually returned to the Space Coast she loved, settling in Merritt Island, Florida, close to the place she had always called home.
She is preceded by her beloved parents and sister, Hazel A. Jones.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, John Patrick Wise Jr.; her children, Jeremy B. Wise and George P. Wise (Jill R. Wise); and her cherished grandchildren, Blaine P. Wise, Kaleb A. Wise, and Katherine A. Wise. Rebecca is also survived by her sister Susan McCune and niece Shanan McCune; her brother John T. Jones and sister-in-law Mandee Jones; and her sister-in-law Hannah G. Wise and niece Shannah K. Tibbetts; along with many grandnieces and grandnephews, even one great grandniece.
She loved deeply, especially her husband, with whom she shared countless memories, laughter, and enduring love. As a devoted military spouse, Rebecca built a home and raised a family while moving from duty station to duty station, embracing each new chapter with strength, adaptability, and love. Through every relocation and challenge, her unwavering support for John and their family stood as a testament to their deep bond and lifelong partnership.
Rebecca dedicated many years to her work at Navy Federal Credit Union as a loan counselor and later brought her talents to the aerospace industry with the United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center. Her work ethic and dedication left a lasting impact on those she worked with.
Beyond her career, Rebecca was a vibrant, artistic soul with a lifelong passion for crafting and creative pursuits. She found immense joy in sharing all of herself with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Known for her sharp sense of humor, open heart, and strong will, Rebecca had the rare gift of making everyone feel like family-especially her sons' friends, whom she welcomed with warmth and generosity.
Her legacy lives on in the stories shared by family and friends, in the love she created, and in the lives, she touched with her kindness and strength.
