Everette Henry Chapman born August 19, 1940, passed away July 4, 2024, at Prism Health ICU Trauma Center, Greenville, SC. Mr. Chapman was one of nine children born to the late Jamie Wyatt Chapman and Rev. Clarence E. Chapman. He was the husband of Virginia (Jenny) Greene formally of Boone, NC. They were a blended family of four children. Philip Chapman (Sandy) of Matthews, NC, Christopher Chapman (Deceased) (Heather) of Charlotte, N.C, Ann Janesko (Mark) of Lenexa, KS and Lee Kilpatrick, (Lori) of Olney, Il. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and Mrs. Mildred Parks (Larry) Monroe, NC the mother of his children. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Vivian Calvert (Rev. Hayward) of Spartanburg. Also surviving is many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Everette was pastor of Fairfield Mountains Chapel for thirty-two and one-half years at Lake Lure, NC. It is a multi-denominational, ecumenical congregation for which he was honored to be named Pastor Emeritus upon retirement in September 2020. He also pastored Flint Hill Baptist Church, Moneta, Va., Churchland Baptist Church, Lexington, NC., Farmville Baptist Church, Farmville, VA., Wingate Baptist Church, Wingate, NC and The Church in Aurora, Aurora, OH.
His heritage, training and ordination were Southern Baptist, and his educational track included North Greenville University, Furman University, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Erskine Seminary. In addition, he completed a year of Internship, a year of Residency and a year of Supervised Practice in Pastoral Counseling.
A prolific writer, he has written for the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board, The Whole Brain Journal and other publications. He was a current columnist for Rutherford County’s newspaper, The Daily Courier, also The Lenoir Times, Hickory, NC and several years as a regular writer for The Mountain Breeze, Lake Lure, NC.
Family visitation will be held at Seawright Funeral Home July 23, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, 26 E. Main Street, Inman, SC
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fairfield Mountains Chapel, July 24 ,2024 at 11:00 AM 1384 Buffalo Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC.
