Rex O'Neal Obituary
Rex A. O'Neal, 94, of Somerville passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born October 10, 1930 in Somerville and graduated from Oakland City High School. He proudly served in the United States Army and was discharged in May of 1952. Rex was a member of Sugar Ridge Church of Christ for over 70 years and had faith. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America local 4343 and the Somerville American Legion. Rex was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved deeply by his family and they will miss him.
Rex is survived by his wife of 72 years, Pansy O'Neal of Somerville; children, Alvin F. O'Neal (Hope) of Somerville and Judy Scott (Tony) of Somerville; grandchildren, Michelle Smithhart of Somerville and Alvin B. of Mackey; step-grandson, Josh Scott (Megan) of Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Grace, Levi, Hope, Jesse, Faith, and Gabrielle; step-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abby, Aurora, and Kubrick; and nephews and nieces, Patrick, Michael, Christina, Charlena, and Marquetta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt O'Neal and Edith (Fleener) Moore.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 20, 2024 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with Steve Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery in Somerville. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
