Rex Thomas, 65, of Plainville, IN went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2023. He was born in Washington, IN on December 4, 1957, to the late Melvin L. and Ruth Evelyn (Rice) Thomas. Rex graduated from North Daviess High School in 1976 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He married Julia Daily on July 5, 1997. Rex ministered for 18 years and was currently serving Plainville First United Methodist church and Washington Wesley UMC. He also worked for the Town of Plainville for 5 years. In his free time, Rex enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, tubing, working on his son's truck, being outside, spending time with family, and prison ministry. Rex truly was a jack of all trades and was always working on something. He will be deeply missed by all.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Harold Ray Thomas and Patricia Ellen Thomas; brother-in-law Max Prentice.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Julia Thomas; children Amber (David II) Shimer and Jonathon Thomas; grandchildren Jacob Shimer, Isaac Shimer, Annabeth Shimer, Isabelle Thomas and Anastasia Thomas; siblings Margaret Prentice, Garold (Betty) Thomas, and Deb (Ray) Littlefield; sister-in-law Barbara Thomas; his adoptive family; and many nieces and nephews.
Goodwin-Sievers funeral home is honored and entrusted with the care of Mr. Thomas. Visitation will be held at Plainville First United Methodist Church Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 4-8pm and March 2, 2023 10-11am. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11am.
Memorial donations can be made to Plainville First United Methodist Church or Washington Wesley UMC in honor of Rex.
