Frederic H. Ecker "Ric", 66, passed away August 8th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Morelli Ecker, with whom he spent 31 wonderful years of marriage.
Ric was born in Bellevue, WA on September 29, 1956, and was adopted by the late Frederic W. Ecker and Gloria (Enyman) Swords. While young, he and his family moved to Connecticut, from there the family moved to Yarmouth, MA (Cape Cod). Ric graduated from Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT. Upon graduation, he moved to join his father in Brunswick, ME. Ric proudly joined and served in the United States Air Force with Honorable Discharge at the rank of Sargeant.
After his time in the Air Force, Ric returned to Cape Cod and enjoyed his job as a truck driver for several construction companies. Nothing made him happier than meeting and marrying the love of his life, Ruth.
Ric's biggest passion was fishing, you would be sure to find him on the Canal or a beach with a pole or three in hand. Upon retirement, Ric enjoyed all things Cape Cod. He loved boating, lobstering, rides around Cape, picnics on the Canal, and socializing with his fishing buddies. Ric loved going to Stage Harbor Lighthouse, the family lighthouse in Chatham, MA. He also loved going to the lighthouse "work parties" with his cousins. He enjoyed golf, reading novels, traveling, sports (especially football and NASCAR), going to his favorite casinos, watching crime shows, and listening to music on his vinyl records.
Ric was a kind and loving man who never complained and always saw the glass half-full. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ric is survived by his wife Ruth Morelli Ecker of Forestdale, MA and his loving daughters Kathy Morelli of West Yarmouth, MA, Karen Morelli of East Sandwich, MA, and Susan Morelli of Sandwich, MA. He is also survived by his brother Steven Ecker and his wife Ruth of Woolwich, ME; his sister Karen Gavell and her husband Bill of Falmouth, MA; his sister-in-law Christine McCarthy of Forestdale, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations located at 74 Algonquin Ave (RTE 151), Mashpee, MA 02649.
