Ricardo "Rico" Quintero, a vibrant soul known for his infectious laughter and unwavering spirit, tragically departed from us too soon on April 18, 2025. Born on December 20, 1989, in the sun-kissed city of Phoenix, Arizona, Rico embodied a life that was full, passionate, and characterized by a firm commitment to those he loved and the endeavors he embraced.
Rico’s career was as diverse as his many talents. He seamlessly transitioned through roles as a loan officer, food server, auto mechanic, ticket writer, technical support person, and even a baseball umpire. This eclectic journey not only showcased his remarkable adaptability but also his deep-seated desire to engage with people across various walks of life. Each role he filled was a testament to his dedication and work ethic, earning him admiration from colleagues and friends alike.
As a proud alumnus of Cortez High School in Phoenix, Rico cultivated an eagerness for learning that never waned. He was diligently pursuing his bachelor’s degree and took pride in maintaining perfect attendance. Education was not merely a pursuit; it was a reflection of his desire to better himself and set an example for his loving family.
In his personal life, Rico was an ever-present force, treasured as an emergency contact by all who knew him. His personality sparkled brilliantly as he brought joy and humor into every interaction, earning the affectionate distinction of being the class clown. Rico was extremely active, not just in jest but in the way he lived his life, whether it was coaching sports or enjoying the flavorful world of hookah, a particular passion of his that brought friends together.
Those who hold dear memories of Rico will never forget his immense heart, his steadfast loyalty, and the pride he took in being a devoted husband to Joselyn Orona and a supportive father to his cherubic children, Jayson, Dominic, Khloe, and the little one expected to arrive in November. He cherished his family above all, the accomplishments of school, family, and the joys of life making his spirit soar.
Surrounded by love, Rico found his roots in a family anchored by the unwavering support of his parents, Maria Elena and Miguel Mejia, his beloved twin sister, Yajaira, his natural brother, Joel (Teddy), his kin brother, Miguel, and his grandmother, Maria Elena Nunez de Rael. Each relationship he nurtured was steeped in love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that will forever echo in the hearts of those who remain.
Taken before his time in a tragic accident, the world feels a profound ache without him. Yet, his legacy is one not just of tears but also of roaring laughter, spirited adventures, and a reminder of the power of connection. Rico Quintero leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those who loved him, reminding us to embrace each moment with fervor and devotion.
A viewing will be held in his honor on April 24, 2025, at Avenidas Funeral Chapel in Avondale, AZ, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose memory will live on through countless stories and shared experiences.
